Pioneer Families Association OUR LIGHT SHINES ON |
July 17, 2010 was the last Pioneer Families Reunion, held on Peaks Island at the Fifth Maine Regiment. For many years, the reunion was held every two years. Unfortunately, we've worn out our volunteers to the point where the 2012 reunion had nobody to organize and run it.
The family members that have organized and run the reunion for the past several years need others to step up. Basicly, they're worn out doing everything without
much help and have other demands being made on them. Soooo.... we know people have enjoyed these reunions for years, and now its time for other family members
to step up to take on the organizer roles and volunteer to keep the Association running. Without fresh people stepping up, there will be no future reunion(s).
We need a Secretary to handle correspondence, reunion invitations, etc... and a Reunion Chair to manage the planning, organizing the speakers and meeting, and run the meeting. We also need people at the reunion to volunteer to set up and break down as well as clean up (a short term and easy role).
In addition, we need someone who can commit to creating a newsletter on a regular basis. This would require the organization, gathering, writing, and publishing
of a relatively simple newsletter at least once a year.
Again, our leaders have given a lot of hours over the past years to ensure the bi-ennial reunion. It is now time for new leaders to take the reigns and ensure
the Pioneer Families Association continues to exist to share our heritage. Contact Anne Sterling if you'd like more information or are ready to jump on board!
